"Let The Good Times Roll" |
Sung By Willie Clayton |
Susan's Poetry In Motion.com |
As long as he's been recording, which is from 1969 to 2003, one might think Willie Clayton is an old geezer..NO WAY!!!He was just past forty when he hit his commercial stride with a couple of blues-soul albums..for Ace Records that sold well to the Southern market. After his debut single for Duplex, "That's The Way Daddy Did" went nowhere.. he ended up contracted to HI Records in Memphis..Finally in 1984 he scored soul success, and nudged his way onto the R&B Charts Here is his version of "Let The Good Times Roll".I love it and think it's the best and smoothest version of this song I have ever heard.. |
"After The Rain" |
From The Poetry collection of Susan Jane Kahon |
After the sultry rain...the sun... Shines on the hill, till day is done It sanctifies the weary soul... And validates, that life's not dull... And when the sun..does disappear... It's then we know, that night is near.. All the good times, that we know... To those places, we will go...... In nightime dreams, I peek at you... Dear old times, then still, are new... I lay awake and reminisce.. Of kindest love, and sweetest kiss... Dew upon the early dawn Reminds me of your silken song.. When first we danced for love alone... When our two souls, became as one Those nights are filled with memories, And days become a reverie.... I know your love still seems so near... You've not forgotten I am here... I know the music in your soul.... So let the best of good times, roll... And I am very glad, indeed, For you are all I'll ever need... written by Susan Jane Kahon September 14, 2003 ICYU 8:09pm Thanks, Alice for top graphic..
