"Midnight Rider" |
Sung By Waylon Jennings |

For some reason, today Waylon Jennings was on my mind...today. I used to ride in my car along the highway, racing madly with the moon to these tunes, especially "Midnight Rider".Waylon was born in Littlefield, Texas. He moved to Lubbock in 1954, and toured as Buddy Holly's bass player from 1958 to 1959.He gave his seat to Buddy Holly on an airplane that had a fatal crash near Mason City Iowa. I was priviledged to hear and see Buddy Holly and Conway and Waylon at Fournier's Ballroom in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1959,right before I moved to California. I saw, I believe one of Buddy Holly's last concerts. We had to stand to watch them and I was in the front row. That plane crashed on Feb 3, 1959 Waylon, himself passed away at 64 at Chandler Regioal Hospital in Chandler, Arizona. |
"I'm Gonna Find Him" |
From The Poetry Collection of Susan Jane Kahon |
Lord, I'm bound I'm gonna find him.. If I have to ride all night... Yes, Lord, I'm bound to seek my lover 'Cause he's way too far from sight... Determined that I am, gonna keep movin' on Till the flame of setting sun goes down Then I'll ride along the midnight line And fight the demons, all around... Lord, I'm gonna reach him soon.... And I'll just keep riding tough Until the winds stop blowing free And that's still not long enough.... I'll chase the earth, and woo the moon And I'll cry to the burning sky above.. I'll still keep on riding the rusty roads Just to get to my sweetheart's love.... Crying, and fighting, the odds of the world The sea mist washing my skin... I'll ride on through each midnight hour Because I feel his power... within.... Lord, I'm bound I'm gonna find him If I have to ride all night.... Yes, Lord, I'm bound to seek my lover For he's way too far from sight... written by Susan Jane Kahon August 26, 2003 ICYU 7:39pm Recovered: Sept. 16th, 2023 Some Links & Counters may no longer be Active! |
