"We Belong Together"
Sung By Ritchie Valens
Susans Poetry In Motion
This is a special page tonight, reaching many people and maybe only some....maybe only one special heart....but it is for love. February 3, 1959..I saw Ritchie Valens in one of his last concerts, perhaps it was the last concert, I never did the research on it. He died at the tender age of seventeen. Ritchie was born on May 13, 1941 in Pacoima, Calif. a suburb of Los Angeles. His real name was Richard Valenzuela. I was sixteen when I saw him.
He recorded at the age of seventeen for Del Fi Records.
He was still in his first year of recording and had already made a a name for himself in the music industry. He was the first Mexican American singer to achieve national recognition, paving the way for others. Ritchie penned his own songs, and he gave his own marvelous rendition to them...Here is " We Belong Together" written by Ritchie Valens. This beautiful song was sent to me, to use on a page. Thank you..for the lovely song..
God bless all who contributed to this page..musically, and graphically.
"You Do Belong To Me"
From The Poetry Collection of Susan Jane Kahon
You belong to me, your heart is crowned with flowers
You were always mine, amongst the dancing hours...
Making love upon, the shifting, restless sand
My heart was pounding, resting in your hand...

Pale and quiet, your lips adorned my flesh..
Yet your love remained, forever new and fresh..
Strong and secret, as a child you came to me..
And your touch has brought us.. love so faithfully..

After the loving, with outstretched arms
and sated eyes..
You held me softly, and never told me lies..
Your flame is ultimate, and it burns so deep
Because of your love, I never felt defeat...

Softly, in silence, skin on skin we slept
Dreaming now, of all the secrets that we've kept
When you sleep, your very soul I know..
Your wings, they touch me, wherever I may go

Now I know, your soul is in it's place
For there's only peace, that I see upon your face
Let's hold each other, but never in disguise..
For I see the honesty, in your curtained eyes..

And, I feel your spirit, for it is always there..
It's in the threads, of your tangled silver hair...
My darling, please don't ever toss our life aside...
We do belong together, that cannot be denied...

Let love live through us
