"My Borrowed Heart"
FROM THE POETRY COLLECTION OF SUSAN JANE KAHON
A PASSING ANGEL FLOATING BY..
OFFERED ME HER HEART TODAY
SHE SAW MY LONELY TEARDROPS FALL
AND LEFT IT THERE UPON MY SLEEVE
THEN GENTLY FLEW AWAY

I WEAR THIS HEART UPON MY SLEEVE
IT FITS ME LIKE A GLOVE, YOU SEE
EMBARRASSED BY MY BORROWED HEART
I ASK THE WORLD TO PARDON ME

THIS HEART DOES NOT BELONG TO ME
IT'S BORROWED FOR A LITTLE WHILE
MY SORROW WAS AN ENTITY
MY OWN HEART FLED
WHEN I LOST YOUR SMILE

THIS BORROWED HEART OF LOVE I WEAR
UPON MY SLEEVE WEARS ANGEL'S WINGS
I'M HOPING IT WON'T FLY AWAY
BECAUSE THERE IS SOME HOPE IT BRINGS

SO, TOUCH MY TENDER HEART TODAY
IT'S ON MY SLEEVE FOR YOU TO FIND
AND IF YOU CHOOSE TO PASS ME BY
MY HEART WILL CRY
BUT PAY NO MIND..

YOU SEE..

THIS HEART DOES NOT BELONG TO ME
IT'S BORROWED FOR A LITTLE WHILE
MY SORROW WAS AN ENTITY
MY OWN HEART FLED
WHEN I LOST YOUR SMILE
