"MY HOMELESS LOVE" |
FROM THE POETRY COLLECTION OF SUSAN JANE KAHON |
MY FLOOR WAS MADE OF WOOD AND EVERY TIME THE SEASONS CHANGED I'D SLEEP THERE IF I COULD IT KEPT ME CLOSE TO HIM.... FOR HE , HIMSELF..SLEPT ON THIS FLOOR WHEN FIRST HE CAME FROM DISTANT SHORES SO FAST ASLEEP WAS I THAT NIGHT... WHEN HE,HOMELESS.... AND SO FULL OF FRIGHT APPEARED UPON MY DOORSTEP..TIRED AND I WARMED HIM WITH A SPECIAL FIRE THE ICY COLD HAD PUT HIM HERE.. SO NEEDY.. AND SO FULL OF FEAR... I HAD TO CLOSE THE BIG OAK DOOR AND LET HIM SLEEP ON SUSAN'S FLOOR HE PLAYED HIS GUITAR AND SANG FOR ME SONGS OF ALL THE THINGS HE'D SEEN SO THANKFUL WAS HE ON THIS NIGHT WE DINED BY SILVERY CANDLELIGHT.. DAYS CAME AND WENT AND HE DID SAVOR ALL THE BLESSINGS AND THE FAVORS BESTOWED UPON THIS GENTLE SOUL WHOSE HOMELESS HEART HAD FOUND A HOME |
I OFTEN THINK, WHILE TIME HAS PASSED AND AS MEMORIES NOW KEEP COMING BACK HOW IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF HE HAD STAYED HE'D BE RIGHT BY MY SIDE TODAY WHEN HE LEFT.. MY EMPTY HEART BEAT SLOWER..AS WE HAD TO PART... BUT FOR AWHILE HE HAD A QUIET SHORE SLEEPING ON MY WOODEN FLOOR MY WANDERING MINSTREL,I WOULD GREET IF NOW I MET HIM ON THE STREET BUT IF I SEE HIS FACE NO MORE HE HAS SLEPT AWHILE...ON SUSAN'S FLOOR MY HOMELESS LOVE SO FAR AWAY I WONDER WHERE YOU ARE TODAY PERHAPS YOU'LL RETURN IN JUST AWHILE AND I'LL CATCH THE SUNLIGHT IN YOUR SMILE MY HOMELESS LOVE..ABIDE WITH ME YOU ARE MY SIMPLEST DESTINY COME IN FROM YOUR EARTHLY COLD AND SUSAN'S MYSTERIES WILL UNFOLD Written by Susan Jane Kahon April 7 2002 9:36pm IC...U Recovered: Oct. 20th, 2023 Some Links & Counters may no longer be Active! |
