"Boy From Tupelo" sung by Emmylou Harris
Perhaps the most influential woman in country music since Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris possesses the odd knack of sounding like the most conservative country purist in the world, while at the same time drawing more wells of inspiration than any three other artists. Born April 2, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama, Harris started her career with folk music, and then she hooked up with Gram Parsons and the rest is history. She is a marvelous solo vocalist, and a wonderful harmony artist, and her songs are really quite different, as you can see from this track from the album..."Red Dirt Girl"...called "Boy From Tupelo." I was blown away by the lyrics, of a woman giving up on life and following the King to his final resting place. I included Elvis in this page, as he is the subject of this song, and it's just a wonderful expression of the way life can sometimes be.
Please enjoy Emmylou on this page, and sign the guestbook if you like my tribute to this song.

"The Fall"
From The Poetry Collection Of Susan J. Kahon
Can you just now hear the sound..
Of my heart falling on the ground?
Sometimes life can get you down..
And something's gotta turn around..

If the cold winds start to blow..
I guess I don't know where I'll go..
I'll take the rain and wintry snow..
And let the muddy waters flow..

But if heaven starts to call..
I'm gonna try to give my all..
When my back is up against the wall..
I just don't wanna take the fall..

So Lord Jesus, take my hand..
I know I'll miss the sun and sand..
But life with God will be so grand..
Come take me to the Promised Land..
