| Connie Francis was born Conceta Rosa Maria Franconero on December 12, 1938 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of a roofing contractor. Connie won first prize on Arthur Godfrey's Startime talent Scouts TV show at age 12. She continued to perform for him for four more years. She received a contract with MGM records after all other record companies had rejected her. Connie also starred in four motion pictures.."Where The Boys Are" in 1960, "Follow The Boys" 1963, "Looking For Love" 1964. and "When The Boys Meet The Girls".Following a performance in Westbury, New York, she was robbed and raped at knifepoint. She was unable to sing for years after this attack...but slowly recovered until she was able to tour in the 1990's. She was married twice and has an adopted son, but Bobby Darin remained the one love of her life. Her father opposed her marriage to Bobby Darin, who later married Sandra Dee. | I love to give my darling praise... For all his wondrous, loving ways... I summon poets, just to rhyme.. Sweet sonnets for my valentine.... His hands are filled with paradise.. There is no life, but in his eyes.. He's softer than the turtle dove... And earns the title, "King Of Love"... Feelings unite, within my breast... And they sanctify, my interest... In one whose heart alone, does shine.. One love I claim, that's only mine... His fire consumes my own, hot flame.. As I call out his worthy name... Oh, heaven could write a gracious book.. Just on the way, two lovers look... Hours of love, spent with his smile.. His virtue, now will reconcile... Each time we made love...so warm, so deep!!!
