"Her Battle Cry" |
From the poetry collection of Susan Jane Kahon |
He stands, there, oh..so very proud He's forgotten about yesterday His glory speaks out for itself In his militant soldier's way.. She stands there on the corner Reading the latest mail from him She puts the letter to her cheek And feels her eyes grow moist and dim Remembering their life, before the war .. She counts herself among the blessed.. Her youthful beauty, glows this day For she knows she's got the very best.... This sweet love from him, she'll always know Thoughts of her life, pass quickly by.. For he's a long, long, way from home And she can't seem to dry her eyes And in a land, so far away A soldier holds her memory A photograph, inside his vest The only part of her, that he can see.. And they both stand proud on different shores Both feet planted firmly on the ground Both pray for one another Silent prayers, without a sound... She's wearing his old army pants As she holds a flag, out to the sky She turns toward the eastern front And only God hears her battle cry Written for our men in the service, and their women , and for those in love ICU By Susan Jane Kahon April 12 2003 3:26pm Recovered: Jan. 25th, 2024 Some Links & Counters may no longer be Active! |
