Bonnie Guitar was born Bonnie Buckingham on March 25, 1924 in Seattle, Washington. She was primarily a country singer and songwriter, but also worked as a session guitarist in Los Angeles, in the mid fifties (that is how she picked up the name Bonnie Guitar.) She had a top ten hit on the pop charts with "Dark Moon" in 1957. In order to make records for her fans, she started her own label and called it Dolphin. She signed a trio called "The Fleetwoods", who promptly delivered a number one song called "Come Softly To Me" in 1959. The name pf the label was changed to Dolton. Bonnie then came up with even bigger artists, when the Ventures came on board with Dolton and released their hit called "Walk , Don't Run," which reached number two on the National Pop charts in 1960. The Ventures continued with Dolton through much of the sixties, and when it was sold, went to Liberty Records and recorded. She eventually sold Dolton, which ended up with Liberty and now is EMI. Some of her songs were recorded by other artists, including Eddie Arnold, with whom Bonnie toured in the 60's. Here is one song, an oldie, called "By The Light f The Silvery Moon" recorded by Bonnie Guitar. Please enjoy and sign the guestbook, please. |
"Beneath The Moon" |
From The Poetry Collection of Susan Jane Kahon |
Beneath the moon, a howling wolf cries Out for his mate..as I cry out for you, And you slide in and out of my love, Drinking from my loving cup..as you Take my soul, and lift me up It's the decadent shattering of my heart, Whenever you're near..under the full Moon, life erupts with wanton feelings, When I feel your body next to mine.. It's then, I know it's almost time It's time to seek the center of my world With urgent passion.., I run to greet You..with the most intimate of kisses, And then I ask you if you would...love Me deep, and love me good This air between us closely shared, like A futured past, familiar to only us.. Whispered words that ride the tides of Wayward seas....For you've traveled a Thousand Miles, just to be with me Beneath the moon... written by Susan Jane Kahon ICYU..GOD BLESS YOU Love To All....
