"Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love"
Billy Joe Thomas was born August 7, 1942, at his grandmother's home in Hugo, Oklahoma. His parents Vernon and Geneva Thomas, had three children...Billy Joe, Jerry and Judy. The two Thomas boys loved singing in their church choir. Young Billy Joe adopted the name B.J. because there were too many Billy Joes already on the Little League baseball team. After being convinced by his older brother Jerry to audition for a local band "The Triumphs", High school junior B. J. became the group's lead singer. The band was a success, and caught the ear of Steve Tyrell, who talked Scepter Records into releasing "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" nationally. Young Billy Joe Thomas became one of Scepter Records' most successful artists. Soon after becoming a solo artist Billy Joe married his wife, Gloria. They were married on December 9, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After overcoming a long struggle with drugs and alcohol, Billy Joe has the love and support of his family. Billy and Gloria celebrated thirty five years of marriage this past December. I met B. J. Thomas at a Christian Rally for Believer's Church, when he put on a performance in Marshfield's ,(Marshfield, Wisconsin)High School Auditorium. He gave a great show, and can sing even better in person. And is a very outspoken personality. God Bless All tonight. Love from Sugarfoot.
"My Old Fashioned Heart"
From The Poetry Collection Of Susan J. Kahon
I have a great love in my soul
But an old fashioned heart in my hand
I always put him first in my life
But sometimes he just doesn't understand

I'm a woman, just like every woman he's known
And I love and feel the same
All women may not love equally,
But that's just part of the game

My little old fashioned heart
I give it a squeeze, now and then
To make sure that it knows
Wherever he goes
This ole' heart goes along with him

My heart knows where it truly belongs
And I search for an answer each day
To make this heart a brand new one
And I'm looking, to find a way
He means so much to my old fashioned heart
And I do what it takes to get by
My heart is now a bit worn and torn
But my old fashioned heart doesn't lie

Hidden, deep in the shadows...
Where my old fashioned heart borrows space
I wait in the wings, among other things
'Till I can once again, see his face

I have a great love in my life, But an old fashioned heart in my hand
I always put him first in my life
And I hope that he does understand

How much love
That I hold in my hand
