"That's All I Want From You" |
Susan's Poetry In Motion |
Sung By Aretha Franklin |
The fate of music was forever changed in 1956 when a fourteen year old girl named Aretha belted out "Precious Lord" at the Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan...This conception of the legendary "Lady Soul" is nothing short of amazing grace. She has more than a dozen million selling records to her credits, twenty R&B hits..A cover story in Time magazine, and a totally fabulous career despite personal turmoil. Aretha Franklin was born march 25, 1942 to a respected gospel singer and a powerful orator. Here is Aretha Franklin singing.."That's All I Want From You." |
" The Beast In Me" |
From The Poetry Collection of Susan Jane Kahon |
If my body could talk, it would tell you.. My flesh tingles, whenever you're near I feel like the leopard, ready to pounce And Baby, these words are sincere.... I choose to love you with all of my heart I choose the passion, that takes me above Going toward heaven, within your touch My body cries out for your love..... My body is soiled with your sweat... And my heart has a bliss that lays bare... Your eyes look down, and my eyes look up To see if you're still standing there.. Why do I feel so banal.. Why does the beast in me scream... Is it that I know your body so well That our love goes beyond a mere dream? Your hair is tangled in mine... And your lips lie deep on my skin.. Can you ever begin, to forgive me.... For making you my only sin? The heaven of heavens unfurled.... I see stars that caress you this night Sweet music that comes from your throat Lullabyes me to sleep with delight..
